They also feel rather fragile, so they rarely (if ever) see any use outside of the house. Now I use the D1 as a DAC to feed the Asgard 2, then headphones. Despite their compact size, the cable is almost comically long (9-10ft). Sony MDR-80's - a blast from the past, these are mid-80's vintage on-ear headphones, sound surprisingly decent, and are also quite easy to drive. Rather warm, their response could be flatter, but they get the job done on long flights (isolation is quite good with deep Comply tips). Westone W40 IEMs - my travel headphones, used with some thick Comply foam tips and an Apple USB-C headphone adapter acting as the DAC. How do the Fiio amps in the 150 range compare to the Audioengine D1 dac/amp I would be willing to spend. I consider these my 'reference' setup and am quite happy with them overall - current sources are generally music via Tidal at hifi or master quality. NVX XPT100 or HD 598 or AKG or ATH-AD series.
#AUDIOENGINE D1 DAC HD 598 PLUS#
Sennheiser HD 700 - I've had these for 6+ years, most of that time I've been running them through an Audioengine D1 DAC, amped via a Massdrop O2, plus some extensive EqualizerAPO DSP to flatten out their response. Sennheiser HD 600 Open Dynamic Hi-Fi Professional Stereo Headphones (Black), B00004SY4H, 615104044654, 061510404465, 4465 at camelcamelcamel: Amazon price. Overall, Dan has a fairly consistent house sound which is more or less half way between the newer "wish-they-were-actually-'stats" HiFiMans (HiFiMen?) and the bass focused Audezes. This DAC is not compatible with Dolby Digital signals. If connecting to a TV, please make sure you can select 'PCM' output in its audio menu. Even with that it does way better on my usual 'cringe' tracks than most other headphones. 3-9/16'W x 1-1/16'H x 2-15/16'D (5-1/4'D including cable and volume knob) warranty: 3 years. D1 is the perfect digital interface between your computer and music system and will improve the sound of ALL your music. The treble may have a couple narrow resonances in it which the 1 didn't have or I may need to play around with the included damping kit some more. Audioengine D1 Premium 24-bit DAC (digital-to-analog converter) allows you to bypass your computer's soundcard or headphone output and send audio through USB or optical.
The soundstage is much appreciated as that's the reason I didn't go with just another pair of IEMs. I was planning to buy a nice pair of closed 'phones at Axpona this year but after they canceled it for this year I just went with what I was already leaning towards.įrom memory (and listening notes) compared to the Aeon 1 it has a larger soundstge and the bass is shelved up a bit. Would this tube amp be worth using with Sennheiser HD598 or HD6XX headphones I am currently using an Audioengine D1 all-in-one Amp/DAC. Those last two are the primary reasons I bought it, based on previous experience with the Aeon 1. Will the Audioengine D1 work with these two headphones EDIT: I did check the purchase advice tab but didn't find the Audioengine D1 on it. I just bought myself the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 OHM since I need a closed back headset due to my living situation. One of the best closed headphones I've ever heard. If it helps I currently use Sennheiser HD 598 open back head phones.
